A Letter from the Principal

Dear Loyola Families,
Tomorrow, while students have a day off of school, teachers will be learning about the new math curriculum, collaborating with colleagues from other schools and learning how to be the best they can be for your students every day.

Next Thursday, October 15, is the California Great Shake Out. Loyola will be participating in this Earthquake Drill at approximately 10:30. Classes will discuss earthquake safety both at school and ideas they could do at home as well. Please check out this site to learn more about Earthquake safety and have conversations at home as well.

Be Kind, Be Strong, Be Well,

Kelly Rafferty
Principal, Loyola Elementary

PTA News

TOMORROW is the LAST DAY to register for the 2026 Rock ‘N’ Roar Walkathon, coming up on Saturday, October 17, 9 AM-1 PM!  Avoid at-the-door ticket prices–click HERE to attend our largest school-wide fundraiser of the year!  Contact Mary Erginsoy (maryerginsoy@gmail.com) or Aubrey Rotschi (aubreynorman21@yahoo.com) with questions.  Contact Mrs. Rafferty (krafferty@lasdschools.org) for assistance if the tickets are a financial hardship for you.

Register HERE by October 24 for Loyola's Spooktacular Trunk-or-Treat on Friday, October 30, 5:30-7 PM.  Loyola students and siblings are invited to go “trunk or treating” in the Loyola parking lot and enjoy a complimentary light dinner.  Although hosting a vehicle is not required to attend, we need families to volunteer to host vehicle trunks for the event to run.  Dress up your car's trunk (and yourselves!) in your best, not-so-scary, Halloween costumes and pass out goodies (provided by the host family).  Contact Malinda Lee (malinda.shinrhei@gmail.com) or Ketaki Deo (ketz.deo@gmail.com) with questions.

A HUGE thank you to our Walk & Roll to School chairs, Liisi Esse, Xiaodan Sun, Zaynah Rahman, for organizing such an important, informative and FUN event last Friday, as well as Loyola Cub Scout Pack 33 for leading the Bike Pump Up and Helmet Adjustment Station!  We learned so much about pedestrian and bike safety!

We are also appreciative of all of the families who donated costumes and volunteers who helped us at the Costume Swap Shop this past week.  We hope you were able to make a little room in your closet and pick up a costume or accessory that is just right for you this year!

Have a great long weekend!
