Yayy, it's Walkathon season again! An annual Loyola tradition, the Walkathon is our largest, school-wide family event of the year. It features games, activities, food, and, of course, walking laps around the school track in the beautiful Fall weather! This year, we'll be lacing up our sneakers and putting on capes as our favorite superheroes on October 21st. We hope to see you there!

Logo Design Contest

The Walkathon logo was designed by a Loyola lion this year! All students are invited to submit one entry each for the Walkathon logo by Friday, September 15. The Walkathon Committee announced the winner at Friday assembly on September 22.

Registration

All students and children planning to participate in the Walkathon must register through the Walkathon Registration Form. Younger and older children not attending Loyola are encouraged to register and join us, too.

If you sign up during the early bird registration window, Walkathon t-shirts for participants are guaranteed. If you sign up after the early bird registration window closes, we’ll make every effort to meet size preferences, but sizes may be limited.

  • Early Bird Registration: $30/participant; September 5-27; t-shirt guaranteed
  • Registration: $35/participant; Sep 28-Oct 20; t-shirt if available
  • Day Of Registration: $40/participant; Oct 21; t-shirt if available

Students who have pre-registered will receive their t-shirt at school or at the Walkathon event at the registration booth.

Raffle Prizes

Each registrant is entered into our Walkathon raffle taking place on October 28th. We'll be announcing the prizes soon!

Lastly, the class from each grade with the highest participation wins the coveted Golden Sneaker Award! We will find out the winner from each grade at the October 28th assembly. The winning classes get to keep and display the trophy for the rest of the school year.
 

Schedule

  • 8:30 am: Registration opens, breakfast counters open (until 11:00 am)
  • 9:00 am: Opening Ceremony and Pledge of Allegiance
  • 9:15 am: Walkathon laps begin
  • 10:00 am: Carnival games open
  • 11:00 am: Lunch sales open (until 1:00 pm)
  • 1:00 pm: End of Walkathon; check-out closes

What to Bring

Wear comfortable shoes and clothes for a long, fun day of walking! Remember to bring sunscreen, water bottles, and hats for everyone in the family. A bag to carry prizes and goodies is also highly recommended. Families are also encouraged to set up a “home base” on the field with picnic blankets, chairs, and shade so your children can have a place to rest and know where to find you throughout the day.
  

Check-In

The Walkathon is held rain or shine. Participants can check in throughout the day, beginning at 8:30 am. The official start time is 9:00 am. Registration is located on the lower grade blacktop, closest to the school parking lot. All participants must have a signed participation waiver in order to walk laps. Students will receive an official lap card at check-in to mark their completed laps throughout the day.
  

Laps

The Walkathon will kick-off with an Opening Ceremony and Pledge of Allegiance at 9:00 am. Students can begin walking laps immediately after the Opening Ceremony and throughout the day until 1:00 pm. Every lap they complete will be marked on their lap cards.

Tickets

Tickets are available for sale at the Registration station or the designated ticket sales stations located on the blacktop. They are the only form of currency accepted to purchase food and drinks or to play games. Credit cards will be accepted at the Registration and Grade-Level Parties stations, though we ask for a $20 minimum charge to help offset the credit card processing fee.
  

Food

Food will be available for purchase throughout the day, beginning with breakfast service (donuts, coffee, and juice) at 8:30 am, followed by lunch service (food trucks) at 11:00 am. Families are always welcome to bring their own food if they prefer.
  

Games & Activities

There will be carnival games, arm painting, and other fun activities for kids to enjoy when taking a break from walking laps or waiting for older siblings to finish. These popular games are a Loyola tradition that the students look forward to every year!
   

Classroom Parties

Our awesome teachers are hosting parties for their classes, but there is limited capacity so make sure you sign up your child for the party while at the Walkathon! Parties are $25 per child.

  

Check-Out

Every registrant will be entered in to our raffle. Earn additional entries into the raffle for every milestone met on the Walkathon lap cards. So save those lap cards and make sure you turn them in on your way out!!
