Hello Loyola Parents!
This is the NACK team. NACK stands for Nature and Conservation for Kids. We are an student lead organization that teaches about environmental issues in a kid-friendly way at Loyola. We introduce a different topic each month. This month, we are focusing on Ocean Pollution. We are doing many fun activities such as a Kahoot game, making magazine collages, and a fundraiser for 4Ocean. 4Ocean is a company whom hand pulls trash out of the ocean. You can go to the 4Ocean website and purchase a bracelet made out of recycled glass and string from the ocean. They are $20.00 and for every bracelet you buy, a pound of trash gets taken out of the ocean. Some students have taken home a flyer with more information.
We had our first meeting of the year on Wednesday the 12th, and we played a game where the students guessed how long it takes certain items to be fully disintegrated into the ocean. We are making magazine collages because a very large amount of magazines are thrown into the ocean per year. So even using 15 magazines will help the ocean! Thank you for your consideration!
The NACK team,
Dayva Hartlin, Sara Doctorow, Addy Kopp, Ezri Rohatgi, Mia Ravishankar and our supervisor, Ms. Cho.
